Plant Probs

Lately Lillian has been eating plants around the house. While it may seem like it would be okay to let a cat eat on plants.. it actually is not very good for them at all. For some reason Lilly Belle finds enjoyment in eating these plants and then throwing them up. This is not fun for either of us. Yet, she continues to eat them.

Here are some times when I caught her red handed, well I guess in her case it would be red pawed... either way I caught her in the act. She tries to make it look like she is all innocent. Do not let her cute face fool you though!

This is proof. That right there is where Lillian decided to chew it up. The poor plant didn't even have a chance. I have done some research as to why cats tend to eat plants even though it upsets their stomachs. I found good information on the ASPCA website. Their website not only helped explain some reasons as to why cats do that but it also gave some helpful pointers in order to try and keep the cats from eating the plants.

I chose to try our the cayenne pepper idea which is where you just sprinkle some of the cayenne pepper on the plant and when the cat goes to bite it, they will not like the taste so they will learn not to go back. I think this has been working so far... but I will have to keep an eye out just to make sure. You never know with the wildcat Lillian.
